United Nations Peacekeeping and the Developing World (Gabriel Amvane)

The substantive law of successions in the European Union Countries were characterized by the profound disparity and divergence of the autonomous systems found within each of the national legal systems. If we compare continental law regulation to that of common law, numerous differences are revealed between them. Even if we focus our attention only on the continental legal systems, there are notable distinctive and differentiating features between them. The divergences that exist between the different succession regulations are also manifested in the criteria that each legal system establishes for international jurisdiction. For this reason, the EU undertook the legislative works whose result is Regulation 650/2012. Regarding jurisdiction, the provisions of the Regulation are intended to replace the international jurisdiction domestic’s rules existing in the Member States.
